Illinois School Code 115 ILCS 5/3 and 115 ILCS 5/4 requires where a Collective Bargaining Agreement exists, any change in working conditions must be bargained.
As you may be aware, the Union issued a demand to bargain the Board’s decision to arbitrarily initiate a change in your work day by bargaining outside of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
As a direct result of a meeting held today to discuss the Board’s decision to change start and end times and to bargain the impact the change would have on children, teachers, faculty and staff, a survey is attached to provide you the opportunity to let your voice be heard on an issue that impacts you and your families.
Please take a minute to complete the Union's survey.
The survey results will be compiled and discussed at an follow-up meeting on May 22, 2008. With your input, we will be prepared to bargain start and end time for the 2008-2009 school year in the best interest of the parties.
Thanks for your immediate response. If you have questions or concerns regarding this survey, please do not hesitate to contact our IFT Field Services Director Linda Baldwin at (618) 624-4373.
